LAFCo & Circle XX CSD

Local Agency Formation Commission

LAFCo is an independent county agency created by state legislature to ensure changes in governmental organization occur in a manner which facilitates efficient and quality delivery of services and preserves agricultural land resources. Calaveras LAFCO has its own Policies, Standards and Procedures and Bylaws promoting state policy embodied in the Cortese-Knox-Hertzberg Local Government Reorganization Act of 2000.

As a Special District , the Circle XX CSD was formed under the authority of Calaveras LAFCo. Calaveras LAFCo approved  and regulates the Circle XX Sphere of Influence (boundaries) and services. The Circle XX CSD Sphere of Influence is the 10 roads in the Circle XX and services are limited to the support of the Circle XX roads.

Circle XX CSD is a Calaveras County agency but is not a part of The Calaveras County Office and our operation is independent of the County Board of Supervisors. As a county agency, for a fee, the Circle XX CSD can use county services such as the County Tax Collector, the Clerk Recorder Office and the Elections Office.
