Information for New Owners and Real Estate Agents

Calaveras County does not maitain the Circle XX roads. The Circle XX roads are mantained by an elected Board of Directors using funds paid by Circle XX lot owners with their property taxes. The Circle XX CSD Directors make the regulations regarding the Circle XX roads and driveways. Do not ask Calaveras County staff about driveway requirements, they do not know Circle XX CSD driveway regulations.

Proper driveway encroachments (aprons) and culverts are necessary to protect the Circle XX roads from damage that Circle XX lot owners pay to repair.

1.   Lots with an existing driveway

If the driveway connects to a Circle XX paved road, the driveway needs a 6-foot asphalt paved encroachment the width of the driveway.  Some Circle XX  lots are not compliant with the regulation and need to be improved.

Some existing driveways may need a larger culvert. Contact the Circle XX Road Manager for assistance.

2.   Lots needing a new driveway

Before starting work on a new driveway contact the Circle XX CSD Secretary regarding a Circle XX CSD Road Encroachment Permit. You will need to make a deposit of $300 to the Circle XX USD.  $225 will be refunded when the driveway is complete and inspected by the Circle XX USD Road Manager.

If the new driveway will connect to a paved Circle XX road, you will need a 6-foot asphalt paved encroachment the width of the driveway.

If the new driveway will cross a water drainage ditch, you will need a minimum 24-inch culvert under the driveway.  Contact the Circle XX Road Manager to see if you will need a larger culvert.

3.   Maintaining vegetation in front of a lot

Although not a regulation, to minimizxe the risk of fires we recommend lot owners keep the vegetation maintained along the road in front of their lot.

4.   The speed limit in the Circle XX is 25 mph.
